Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and International Day of Non-Violence

Ganga Action Parivar joins the United Nations in celebrating a variety of holidays each year that allow us to reflect on the important issues worldwide and how we can join together to help! On October 2, 2014, we will be celebrating the UN International Day of Non-Violence on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. The United Nations General Assembly has declared that this is a day to “disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness” (United Nations).

Mahatma Gandhi was committed to living a life of non-violence. Ganga Action Parivar supports his vision by promoting a vegetarian lifestyle. One of the most important choices we can make in life is the food we eat. The choice whether to live as a vegetarian or as a meat-eater has a critical impact on the planet, ourselves, our children, animals, our fellow brothers and sisters, and the environment.

Join Ganga Action Parivar in living peacefully towards animals and each other this International Day of Non-Violence and beyond!
